There’s something about buying a new outfit or pulling out your finest attire that puts you in the holiday spirit. For Muslims around the world, Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha (the two major Islamic holidays) are a time to celebrate, look their best, and feel their best.
Muslim Yalies are no exception; Eid ul Adha fell on Monday, September 12th this year, and many students skipped class to dress up and attend an Eid prayer with New Haven locals at Lighthouse Point Park. The following week, on September 20th, the entire Yale community was invited to the annual Eid Banquet, which attracts hundreds of people every year. Attendees are instructed to wear their best “cultural and formal attire,” and never fail to disappoint.
